History was again made recently as our President (worldwide), Dr. John Momoh, OON, NPOM, led a powerful delegation of the National Officers to inaugurate the first set of graduands from the prestigious University of Lagos Business School at a reception party held in their honour.
The event which took place at HRDC Garden, UNILAG, played host to some of the crème-de-la-crème in Nigeria’s business and academic community.
The Executive Director and host, Professor Abraham Osinubi, welcomed the guests and thanked the ULBS Faculty and Staff for their support and sacrifice. He informed the guests that the UNILAG Business School is a member of Association of African Business Schools (AABS), based in South Africa and the Business Graduates Association (BGA).
Prof. Osinubi added that the business school was a unique institution where teachers are not called lecturers but Facilitators and learners are not called students but Participants to provide a conducive environment for learning and innovation. He also revealed that the school harnessed the power of technology to continue lectures and examinations online in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his speech, Dr. Momoh commended the graduands and congratulated them on the great milestone achieved while urging them to rise to the occasion of making sacrifices and proffering solutions to the various problems plaguing the country and continent at large.
He also commended the leadership of the University of Lagos – the Council, the Vice Chancellor,Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe the Management and the ULBS faculty noting that the dream of the Executive Director, Prof. Abraham Osinubi, has played out beautifully.
President Momoh then proceeded to administer the Oath of Membership on the pioneer graduands.
Before the event, the President was received by the 1st National Vice President , Chief Dr. Fassy Yusuf, 2nd National Vice President ; Mr. Bala Abdul, and National Secretary; Chief Adebisi Ogundipe as well as our indefatigable Executive Secretary, Mrs. Yetunde Abatan, and Alumni Relations Manager, Mr. Seun Badejo.
It was indeed a gathering of stars as it had in attendance the immediate Past President of the National Association the Olor’ogun Dr. Sunny F. Kuku, OFR, FAS, who is also the Pro-Chancellor, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Chief Dr. Olusegun Osunkeye, CON,OFR, renowned accountant, Babalaje of Egbaland and former Chairman – Lafarge Plc and Nestle Plc.
Also in attendance were Dr. Mrs. Dere Awosika, MFR, Chairman, Access Bank Plc; representative of Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, former Chairman, First Bank Limited – Mrs. Funmi Adeyemi and Dr. Akintoye Akindele, Chairman/CEO, Platform Capital.
Some of the major highlights of the event include the presentation of ULBS Outstanding Support Award to the National President, Dr. John Momoh, OON, presented by Distinguished Professor Babajide Alo and presentation of Best Graduating Participant (student) Award to Mrs. Hauwa Kilani.
The University of Lagos Business School (ULBS) was set up in 2013 and became operational in 2019, to advance the culture of excellence in Business education by the University of Lagos.
